Hiking on Symi Island

Posted 1 year ago by soomo in response to avatar julia's question: Is the Symi isle proper for hiking or sun-bathing...? I'm a little lost. (give a different answer) .

The island, home of ship constructors and merchants, doesn't have gleaming beaches, it's trimmed with ragged rocks and small bays. Instead, hiking through the pine and cypress woods is beautiful, especially on the 6-mile route from the center to the Monastery of Panormitis, offering accommodation for guests. It's more like a harbour town, populated by the one-day travellers coming for a stroll and lunch from Rhodes.
