Ancient theater of Epidaurus in Peloponnese

Posted 1 year ago by soomo in response to sunnyride's question: I long to see one of Sophocles's plays in the Peloponnese Theater of Epidaurus ...Do they still perform there? (give a different answer) .

Although the original beaten earth stage and 54 rows of seats have been preserved, the theater has been modernised with some VIP red velvet. The Festival of Ancient drama takes place there, with summer weekend performings - can get a ticket for 10-26$. Built in 4th century BC, the theater was the sanctuary of Asklepios, the father of medicine, and attracted ill people from all over the globe. They used to take bath treatment, sports, relaxation.
