The only strange thing about it is the banned motor traffic - no car or even moped is allowed to pollute Hydra. The only means of transport are the horse-drawn carriages and the donkeys. It's a kind of circular town, with well-groomed sea captain houses, once used as a secret dating spot for artists, writers and glitterati. Take a hydrofoil from Athens and in 2 hours you're in!
