More than 1000 years ago, the Oracle was believed to predict the future, as a word of mouth from Apollo. Zeus created it in the center of the world, and you can still see the omphalos, the rock claimed to mark the navel of the universe. Monthly, on the seven day, a Prythian priestess fell into a trance, communicated the truth to the priests, who would interpret it for the thousands of peasants or leaders queuing to learn their forthcoming hardships and blessings. You can get to see some of their questions, carved on preserved stone boards.
