There are a bunch of cheap eateries in Plateia Venizelou, a sizzling market dating back to 1866...I'd go for Giakoumis Taverna, it has an unending menu of Greek specials, cheap and flavourish. Dishes start from 2 euros and don't go upper than 8 euros... Personally, I wolfed one chicken gyros in 10 seconds...miam, delicious...But be ready to put on some weight if you get accustomed to eating in these tavernas!
