The Acropolis, Athens

No, it's actually a bargain. You pay 12 euros for a full ticket, but you can get a discount at half-price if you show a student card. And it doesn't have to be internationally valid, it worked with my Romanian student card. The great thing about it is that the ticket is a collective one, giving access to more ancient sites, spread all around the Acropolis: The Temple of Zeus (there are actually only a few columns left of it), the Roman agora, the ancient agora (these are ex-plazas or squares), the Keramikos museum, The Theatre of Dyonisos. The ticket provides a 48 - hour admission.
