I've been in your shoes when I was a university student...Go to Youth Hostel No. 5, Dameros Street 75...you can't find cheeper. It's 10 euros a night, very basic, but I guess you don't plan to spend too much time indoors. You have a communal kitchen, coin-operated showers, shared bathroom...You'll clash with other tourists all the time, a lot of them with scruffy clothes and unfresh smells. I didn't complain, cause I just needed a bed and a pillow...
